Context

The Tejo Concert Experience is an immersive journey on the Rio Tejo at dusk, where music and visuals merge with fine wine, curated culinary delights, and the river’s natural beauty. Guests become part of the story, enveloped in Portuguese melodies and local flavors, crafting an unforgettable sensory journey through culture and atmosphere.

Approach

Designing the guest journey

Guests are guided through a carefully structured experience designed specifically for the spatial and operational conditions of a river cruise. Entry is managed through digital ticketing, allowing guests to board efficiently without physical tickets, which simplifies the check-in process in the limited boarding area of the yacht.

The timing of the program is coordinated with the navigation schedule of the cruise, ensuring that key moments of the performance align with the changing scenery of the Rio Tejo at sunset. Musical performances are scheduled in relation to dining service to maintain a comfortable rhythm between listening, social interaction, and culinary moments.

Food preparation and service are planned according to the duration of the cruise and kitchen capacity onboard. Dishes are selected for their suitability for onboard preparation and service, prioritizing Portuguese ingredients and flavors while ensuring that plating, temperature, and service timing remain consistent throughout the journey.

By structuring arrival, performance timing, and dining logistics in relation to the constraints of the boat environment, the experience remains smooth and immersive while maintaining a high-quality guest experience.

The brand identity for the Tejo Concert Experience captures the atmosphere of an immersive event where music, culture, and the natural beauty of the Rio Tejo meet at sunset.

The logo is inspired by the Tejo sunset, using a warm gradient that reflects the changing colors of the sky at dusk, transitioning from golden orange and coral tones into deeper purples and blues. The darker tones at the base represent the Rio Tejo, reinforcing the strong connection between the experience and its river setting.

The circular form symbolizes both the setting sun over the river and the immersive stage of the event. Horizontal lines cutting through the circle reference the river’s horizon and movement, while subtly echoing the rhythm of music and sound waves.
Together, these elements create a contemporary yet atmospheric identity that reflects the essence of the experience — sunset, music, river, and Portuguese cultural storytelling.

The typography system complements the elegance and immersive nature of the experience. The primary title uses a refined serif typeface that conveys sophistication and cultural depth, reinforcing the premium and artistic positioning of the event. A clean sans-serif typeface is used for subtitles and supporting text, creating balance with the headline while ensuring clarity and readability across different applications.

For the Tejo Concert Experience, we selected partners whose products strategically enhance both the guest experience and the event’s authenticity.

Água Monchique, a highly alkaline mineral water with natural antioxidant properties, was chosen for its ability to complement the yacht environment. Its clean, refreshing taste and alkalinity made it ideal for hydration during the multi-sensory journey, supporting guests’ comfort and well-being while subtly reflecting the purity and elegance of the Rio Tejo setting.

Raul Riba D’ Ave, a local Douro wine, was paired with the chef’s curated menu. Its balanced tannins, fruity notes, and depth harmonized with the dishes, enhancing flavor layers while offering guests a taste of northern Portugal’s viticultural heritage. By highlighting regional wine traditions, we also connected the culinary experience to the cultural and historical context of the Douro Valley, enriching the storytelling aspect of the event.

These partnerships were selected not only for their quality and cultural relevance but also for strategic efficiency—optimizing resources while maintaining a premium experience. By aligning product characteristics with the event’s immersive design, we strengthened the sensory journey, deepened cultural engagement, and demonstrated thoughtful, cost-effective planning.
